The Anual Historical Costume Ball
The Historical Costume Balls have been dear to our hearts for almost 20 years. For us, it has been an opportunity to meet friends, learn something new, wear amazing clothes, and (in our single days) flirt a little! all in a safe, family friendly environment.
It is an opportunity to forget about the outside world and its cares just for a few hours, and pretend to be a duchess in court, a 1920’s millionaire, or maybe a stylish thespian on his way to meet Shakespeare. The chance to have fun for fun’s sake, and to look fabulous while doing it- that’s what we hope you find at the Ball, just as we have for years already.
What is a Historical ball?
This is a truly unique opportunity. An evening of music and dancing in the historical costume of your choosing.
Maybe you dream of Mr. Darcy or wish you had an excuse to wear a puffy shirt, perhaps you went out and bought a Bridgerton gown and have no place to wear it- whatever your reason, you will love this event. With live music and a dance caller, you don’t need to have any experience to have an excellent time!
The Band!
Linen and Lace NC has partnered with local musicians and dance instructors “Kingsfriend Music”. At the start of the night, they lead guests through the steps and terms used in all the dances, giving everyone a chance to learn the necessary skills. Then, throughout the night, the dances are “called” so you’re not on your own. You will be able to follow along and enjoy, even if you have never done this before!
